Three Little Words …
Easy to love
In darkened rooms
On damp afternoons
When lamplights beat
On seal-wet streets
With eyes that meet
Over the rims of time
Deep in the soul of red, red wine.
Not easy to love
On soggy mornings
With red bill warnings
Fluorescent bare
Dull eyes stare
With urgent need to read
The fascinating narrative
On the All Bran packet.
But I do.

lovely poem. nice ending (“but I do”), sets a good tone and I like the contrast between the deep soul of red, red wine and the urgent need to read the All Bran packet.
Seems a shame to spoil it by looking for a porky– “never fibs on Val’s Day”? The biggest fib of all? Just like the ancient, “Cretans always lie and I am a Cretan so am I lying?”.

Ah! The All Bran packet. If fibre be the food of love … read on, as Shakespeare might have said across the breakfast table. A thoughtful and thought proving poem. As for the porky … I’m rather stuck, but somehow feel that the classes can’t be resuming in April – that’s so far away, but the dates don’t match Feb or March. So, my best guess is “Rims of time” … surely, the “Rim of time”. No?. Then, I am defeated. A Valentine haiku as a penance.
The splash of a tear
The ink of your name running
away with my love

I’m happy with the haiku,
still dizzy from dizain –
but up for a challenge
and looking forward to April’s start again.
